America’s Game Show Network (GSN) has announced that the seventh series of its popular High Stakes Poker programme will have a new host when it hits the airwaves from February 26.
Although hosted by television personality Gabe Kaplan for the previous six seasons, High Stakes Poker will now be fronted by former Saturday Night Live cast member Norm MacDonald while viewers on DirectTV’s n3D channel are to be offered a new three-dimensional view of the action powered by Panasonic.
Filmed in December at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the seventh season of High Stakes Poker will also see the return of co-host Kara Scott while participating players include Mike Baxter, Eric Boneta, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Robert Croak, Jon Duhamel, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Galfond, Bill Klein, Phil Laak, Jason Mercier, Julian Movsesian, Daniel Negreanu, David Peat, Bill Perkins, Andrew Robl, Phil Ruffin, Vanessa Selbst and Haralabos Voulgaris. Three-hour episodes will be broadcast on Saturdays from eight o’clock in the evening New York time featuring a minimum cash buy-in of $200,000 and a maximum of $500,000 while blinds are set at the $400/$800 level with a $100 ante.
“This season will bring together a mix of top professionals and wealthy amateur players, each eager to take the others’ money in a high-stakes no-limit hold’em cash game,” read a statement from GSN.
“The game features two-time World Series of Poker main event champions Doyle Brunson, making his seventh High Stakes Poker appearance, and Johnny Chan, who is making only his second High Stakes Poker appearance, along with the reigning world champion, 23-year-old Jonathan Duhamel who won $8.9 million for his World Series of Poker main event victory in November.
